Thursday, 28 February 2008

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The youth evangelization campaign that was launched during the festivities of the Chinese New Year, in the Parish of Saint Bonaventure, is now seeing the first fruits of its labor. According to Kung Ko Bao, the diocesan bulletin in Chinese, there is an ever-growing number of young people participating in the parish activities, as well as other non-Christians who have begun showing interest in learning more about Christianity. During the celebrations for the Chinese New Year, the Youth Center at the Parish of Saint Bonaventure organized a fair in order to evangelize. They prepared booths with Catholic objects and informational brochures and held a seminar on religion. Their work has caught the attention of many other youth. As a result of this first encounter, many have already begun to return to the parish to learn more about the community and the faith. Saint Bonaventure Parish, founded in March of 1971, opened their Youth Center in 1995. There are also groups for the liturgy, charitable work, prayer, the Legion of Mary… The goals for the Youth Center are: encourage an integral growth for young people, present wholesome values for the youth, and to help out in the neighborhood and in the parish, attending to the social demands.
