ASIA/HONG KONG - Diocese of Hong Kong working for the family and life, with a benefit Walk

Wednesday, 27 February 2008

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - Supporting the family and human life is definitely a priority in the pastoral ministry for the diocese of Hong Kong. According to a report in the Kong Ko Bao (the diocesan bulletin in Chinese), the diocesan Chancellor, Fr. Lawrence Lee Len highlighted this point during the benefit Walk that was recently held in the city’s central park. Fr. Len mentioned that “today we should seriously consider the questions of life, the family, childbirth, and care for the elderly. It is unfortunate, but in our times, there are many people who do not know the true meaning of life. They do not know how to admire the beauty of the life that the Lord has given us. Many couples (including those not married) are not prepared to welcome children into the world and often turn to abortion as the solution...Society, especially the young people, ignore the elderly and forget that they are a source of wisdom and experience.” After recalling the main difficulties found in relation to the family and life, Fr. Len invited the participants in the Walk to spread the message on the importance of the family and life, as well as, the Christian values, in order to build a more human society, one aware of these two fundamental themes.
