ASIA/INDIA - Bishop of Simdega resigns, successor nominated

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on February 11, 2008, accepted the resignation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Simdega (India), presented by Bishop Joseph Minj, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father has nominated Bishop Vincent Barwa to be Bishop of Simdega (India). Until now, Bishop Barwa has been titular Bishop of Acufida and Auxiliar Bishop of the archdiocese of Ranchi (India). (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 12/2/2008; righe 6, parole 76)
