ASIA/CHINA - Priests in the province of Guang Xi attend ongoing formation on the Celebration of the Eucharist

Guang Xi (Agenzia Fides) - “Rules to observe and what is to be avoided in the celebration of the Eucharist” was the theme of a first meeting in 2008 of ongoing formation for priests. The meeting was attended by 18 priests and 2 deacons of the province of Guang Xi, which includes 4 dioceses: Nan Ning, Wu Zhou, Bei Hai e Gui Lin. Local sources told Fides that the meeting, held in the parish of Gui Lin 1- 4 January, was chaired by Bishop Tan Yan Quan of Nan Ning. The priests and deacons discussed impressions on the theme of the Eucharistic Celebration, correct behaviour of celebrants and participants, according to Church norms. They also underlined that worthy participation in the Eucharist on the part of the faithful should effect daily life, and that at Mass the Church becomes one with the Lord Jesus Christ and this must be lived every day by all the members of the Church. On returning to their respective parishes the priests shared the contents of the 4 days of formation with the faithful to help them deepen their understanding of the sacredness of the Eucharist.
