Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - “From the Lord we draw hope to face the difficulties of life”: Catholic priests in the diocese of Hong Kong told the faithful on the occasion of “Marriage Festival 2007” organised by the diocese. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao the diocesan Pastoral Commission for Marriage and the Family organised the Festival to re-launch the value of the family and Christian marriage and to reflect on the theme of chastity in marriage in the context of the Year of the Family called by the diocese of Hong Kong. Other themes for reflection included hope and vocations in the light of Pope Benedict XVI second Encyclical Spe salvi. At least 2,200 people participated in the Festival held on 30 December, the feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth, with the clergy and men and women religious involved in family pastoral care. A spectacle on the theme of the family was warmly applauded. Many families present were represented by members of three generation. One elderly couple called the children and grandchildren living in Macao to take part in the Festival. The diocesan Commission collected information and suggestions of ways to improve family pastoral. The Festival ended with a special blessing of families imparted by the Bishop of Hong Kong.
