ASIA/CHINA - Coadjutor Bishop of Yinchuan ordained (Ningsia)

Yinchuan (Agenzia Fides) - On Friday 21 December 2007, Rev. Joseph Li Jing was ordained coadjutor Bishop of Yinchuan (Ningsia), principal city of the region of Ningxia, south west of Beijing. The Bishop was ordained with papal approval by Bishop John Baptist Liu Jingshan aged 95 and Bishop John Liu Shigong and Bishop Joseph Li Mingshu, respectively Bishops of Jining (Tsining) and Qingdao (Tsingtao). Concelebrants included Bishop Joseph Zong Huaide of Sanyuan (Sanyüan) and about seventy priests. The Ordination Mass was attended by about 2,000 people including many Catholics from other dioceses who came to share the local faithful's joy at receiving a new young.
Bishop Joseph Li Jing was born in Bameng (Inner Mongolia) 15 November 1968. He was ordained a priest in August 1996. He studied pastoral theology at 1994 - 1998 in Sankt Augustin (Germany). After completing his studies he returned to China and ministered as teacher and spiritual director at Beijing national seminary, giving retreats in many parts of the country.
