Roma (Agenzia Fides) - To contribute to the professional formation of Spanish speaking Catholic communicators who use the radio to inform, form and evangelise in Latin America and Spain, for the second year running CICS, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Communications of the Pontifical Gregorian University, has organised a Virtual Course in Radio.
The seminar-course in Spanish will teach basic radio methods: how to use voice, tone, intonation; how to interview or be interviewed; how to elaborate news; how to participate actively in a production team or net-work.
CICS decided to offer a second course after the success of the first such course last year to help train Catholics involved in the missionary activity of the Church in the local communities. The course is also open to anyone interested in improving skills of expression and communication.
"If you have something to say, say it over the radio", is the slogan of this second virtual course which employs all the latest video-conference techniques. The participants enter a virtual classroom where they can communicate with teachers, tutors and other students. A limited number of students will be accepted and the lessons start on 14 January. The deadline for registration is 12 December. At the end of the course students receive a CICS Certificate.
"During the first course 55 people from Latin America, Spain and Italy produced a radio-magazine and news bulletin in a race against time networking, organising a virtual editing and production desk, an experience suited to the possibilities offered today. Combining Radio and the Internet is not only a subject for study, it can be done", said Ary Waldir Ramos Díaz, coordinates the course. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 6/12/2007; righe 23, parole 317)
