EUROPE/ITALY - TODAY ON THE INTERNET - The Pope encourages the use of the media to evangelise

Tuesday, 6 November 2007

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI recently encouraged initiatives promoted by the Communications Office of the Italian Bishops' Conference. He did this on Sunday 4 November, during his midday Angelus reflections. Among the many visitors gathered in St Peter's to receive his blessing, the Pope greeted members of a Course for Community Animators organised by ANICEC in collaboration the Pontifical Lateran University. "May this formative experience qualify commitment for evangelisation in the world of the media" the Pope said.
"Comunicazione e missione", a handbook on social communications and the Church's mission issued by the Italian Bishops' Conference, intends to be a magna Charta of social communications to underline the commitment of the Church in Italy to communicate the Gospel in the media culture proposing new pastoral paths and initiatives.
