ASIA/INDIA - New Community Centre for environment protection opens in Bhayandar

Mumbay (Agenzia Fides) - Paryavaran Surakshan Kendra a Community Centre for environment protection has just been opened near Our Lady of Nazareth in Bhayandar, India. The Centre was opened by Bishop Bosco Penha, auxiliary Bishop of Bombay.
The Centre will propose alternatives at the rural level to protect the environment and to promote the use of solar energy.
The Centre will organise Prayer Meetings based on a theological vision of ecology and initiatives which ban the use of plastic and costly natural objects. Kendra hopes to make Bhayandar a “green parish”. (AP) (30/10/2007 Agenzia Fides; Righe:13; Parole:114)
